JustBeWell asked:

www.justbewell.com The fear of public speaking is said to be the most common phobia in the world. Whether this is true or not, it is certainly possible to overcome public speaking phobia with help from hypnotherapy (hypnosis) and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming). Public speaking fears hold people back in meetings and they prevent people from being their best when doing presentations. It isnt just work life thats affected. Most people have to stand up and say a few words in front of other at some point in their lives, when they get married, for example. Hypnotherapy and NLP are so effective in dealing with the fear of public speaking because they tackle the problem directly. This is not therapy or counselling, this is practical training and reconditioning and the techniques have been proven with thousands of people through the years. It does not matter where your phobia started, and you certainly werent born with public speaking anxiety, you learned it along the way. We arent going to talk with you about how difficult your life has been, we are just going to get on with helping you to change these horrible limiting fears. Now getting rid of this phobia does not instantly give you Obama like eloquence, but it when you feel confident and comfortable speaking to groups of people you are obviously going to come across better. So whether it is for a best mans speech, for a business or college presentation, in fact whatever its for, you can change this, and you can change it

@JMJ4ever Hi there, Laura here, how are you doing your fear then? If you imagine a friendly crowd, hearing your voice rich and strong and you see yourself standing there having fun how do you scare yourself? There must be something you say to yourself of one of the pictures in your mind that are more scary. But then maybe you are not scared at all! Maybe you are having fun! No? How do you know….. if I could talk to you I could fix this fast, but maybe reading this will do it :-)

@jodier100 Hi Jodier100 – I thought I would just check in and I saw your post. To stop your voice shaking you need to pump more air through. It is a lack of breath that causes the shaky voice. Take big deep breaths into the bottom of your lungs and top up often as you speak. I hope that helps

I also have a fear of public speaking, but I have done some video on youtube which is improving my confidence in it.
Even when I did my video’s I was a little nervous, check them out and see how I sound, JJ markets and MBK shopping are 2 that I am speaking in.

I think you should try and do a screen cast or video of yourself (with noone around) upload it and see yourself speaking. It works wonders, I can’t get up infront of 20 people yet I don’t think, but I think I am getting better.

I don’t know how to stop my voice shaking. I know my stuff, I can joke with people and I can sit around a board room table and drive the meeting. Get me in a public style forum and my voice shakes. How do I stop that?

I’m so f’d up. When she says we imagine the crowd as unapproving, harsh, etc, I can’t even claim that. Of all things about me, I get more compliments about my voice than everything else combined. People are always telling me they love my deep voice, that I should work in radio etc..happens all the time. Speaking should be my most confident and proud event, yet it’s my worst fear in life. Messed up.
